I'm in big deep doo doo this time!!!

Class B+ on a 2005 E450 v10. Heard a packrat chewing on something this morning while we were inside the coach. Opened the hood to find he's decided to build a nest on top of the starter. Cleaned it off best I could. Won't start, motor turns over fine, sounds fuel starved. Tank full. Ran fine last week.

I am NOT a mechanic. NOT.AT.ALL.

Should I have it towed to a Ford Stealership or to a motorhome Stealership? We're in Tucson. Mobile mechanic? Crap, I feel like I stepped in some this time!

Thanks,
Bob

I'd check around for a local mechanic. Chewed wires doesn't mean a Ford or RV service center is needed, just a competent mechanic that can recognize a chewed wire and splice in a replacement. You might need to have the RV towed to their garage if they won't make house calls.

Bob is spot on (as usual) tell the guy to bring wire and splicers. Don't really need to be a MH guy any decent mechanic will figure it out.

SOLVED - and a Great RV Mobile Tech for Tucson

Ok, so a pack-rat's first choice of residency is evidently on top of an RV gas tank. That is where Ray Avery found our chewed wires. FIXED. $250 bucks - and I was happy to pay it - and recommend him.

Ray's Mobile RV Repair 520-443-0411

I was thrilled to not have to tow it - I had it wedged in a place (newbie mistake) that a tow truck could never have snatched it out of.

Lesson(s) learned. RV now in covered paved storage lot with good rodent control.

You guys that wrote me back - thank you ALL.

Bests,
Bob

Last time we were there - pack rat chewed propane lines on our TT. Went to Freedom RV for new hose. Met nicest RV salesman on the way out. Drove out with new Damon 3211. BE CAREFUL!

I spent years in Tucson fighting pack rats. The only thing that works is to run a string of lights under the length of your Rv. Keep the lights on all night.
The professional rodent guy I hired said the manufacturer of automotive wire used peanut oil in the wire insulation. I don't know if that's true but I sure replaced a lot of it.

For future reference your insurance will cover all the repairs.

From what I've read here on many posts is, no Insurance company will cover pest damage.

I wouldn't declare either of the above statements 100% true or false.

Your results may vary by insurance company, policy, and location. But it won't hurt to ask your agent.

READ the policy language, always the first place to start! Policies are worded differently which is why neither of the above "statements are 100% true"...that was not only funny but 100% true
