My Itasca has a tag axle and has a Jet Company Air Ride suspension system under both rear axles. One of the tag air bags popped, and I have ordered the replacements for both of the tag axle bags. Has anyone ever changed these or similar bags? It looks like there is one bolt in the bottom and two in the top, along with the air tube connection. I understand I have to raise the frame to take pressure off the bag area. I think I just have to take the three bolts out and maybe the air connection loose and slide the bag out. Reverse the process and I'm done. Right? And yes, I'm well aware of the need to properly support the rig while it is raised.

Ken,
Give Jet Air a call and they will give you expert guidance on replacing the bags. My last coach had their system on it and I always found them extremely willing and capable in providing phone support and supplimental doumentation whenever it was needed.

Neil,
Yes, I talked to them twice already and have been assured it should not be a difficult job. I will wait until I get the parts and call again if I feel the need. Elton (or Eldon)seems willing to help. The parts are enroute from Memphis to Atlanta, so may be here tomorrow or Saturday.

I received the air bags and installed them myself. It took about 4 hours for the first one, and about an hour for the second. The process was simpler than the instructions Jet supplied. All I had to do was remove the tag wheel, one bottom bolt, two top nuts, and the air line. Then I removed the old bag, cleaned the area, propped the lower cone on the lower support and compressed the bag to get the top bolts back in the top support plate. Aired it up, allowed it to deflate, put the wheel on, and that was it. Hardest part was breaking the first wheel loose from the brake drum. Second one was a breeze.
I thought I had a problem when the second bag would not inflate until I looked at the diagram and found there is a leveling sensor that didn't feel the need to inflate the bags until I let it down from the jack. Then the compressor cut on and did its job.
