Can anyone show me where the MAF sensor is on a 1994 E 350 with 460 engine? I have looked both from inside and outside and cannot locate it. Thanks

The 1994 460 E-series has a MAP sensor and is OBD-1.

Here is the location of the MAP sensor:

Mine is 95 460cid and is located on air intake tube just before the throttle body(MAF) the MAP is right out in the open right near the intake tube.

If you do, it's the first MAF on a 95 460 I've ever heard of (aside from modified engines). All the 460 engines used Speed Density control using a MAP sensor mounted on the body connected by a flexible hose to the intake manifold from the start of EFI in around 1988 through the 1997 model year. The exceptions were the CA and MA emission trucks in model years 1996 and 1997, which used a MAF sensor mounted on the airbox, and SEFI instead of MPFI.

mpaton, i think you know a lot more than I do on this, What do you think is mounted on the throttle body where intake hose hooks up. I dont think it was a ca engine. The map is right where the manual says hooked to the a/c comp.

Close by the throttle body below it is the Idle Air Control valve, and just behind it on the side is the EGR tube. There is also a Throttle Position Sensor on the throttle shaft. The MAP sensor probably is mounted on a Class A close to the A/C Compressor, and possibly wires for the compressor clutch and the MAP sensor may be bundled together, but there is no direct connection.

Probably we can get Subford to post a picture and you could point out the mystery sensor and we'll get it identified.

The F53's and F-Super Duty with the 460 even in California never had MAF sensors; just the F250 and F350.

Actually I was hoping for a photo or diagram of the front of the throttle body so we could identify the part that fletch460 had thought was a MAF. Maybe it's more helpful if he posts the photo, pointing out the item of interest. Or maybe you have a big diagram that shows what it could be.

Excellent! Over to you fletch460.

btw, that's a fairly small doghouse opening you have on that Coachman. Also has everyone had their EGR tube replaced according to the Ford TSB? Mine wasn't especially close to the body, but yours looks closer.

Guys, I thinks you have done it. I think its the idle valve. I am amazed at the level of expertise on this site. Thank you for the help. I hope Elkman found his. I did not mention this was on a cut away chassis. Things located in slightly different way. Again thanks.
Fletch
