Can anyone tell me it the fasteners on a 2006 Ford chasis are metric, SAE or a combination? We just bought ours and its under cover and snowed in or I would check myself.

Thanks,
Mike

My 2002 Ford and my 1999 E450 had both Metric and English size nuts and bolts. I wish the US would just make the conversion to metric and be done with it.

Thats just what I figured. I do have both in the garage but will have to rebuild my carry along tool box to cover needs on the road.

Thanks again,

Mike

I have basically both sets of tools. and "Yes" it's still a 3/8" drive and 1/2" drive ratchet!

I guess I'm too old to put the metric system in my brain's visual understanding of things. My only quick reference is 19mm or 3/4s of an inch. I can usually identify an SAE fastener my looking at it and 80% of the time grab the correct wrench. That's what I'm talking about.

I can see a yard in my mind but ask me to frame that into a meter and I loose a little in the translation. KM and Mi and even more challenging due to the visualization I have in my mind. I know a Km is shorter buy I just can't feel it.

Working with metric sizes is almost like a computer working with binary. For most of the world's population metric system is great however just make mine 33/64th and I'm good with that!

DriVer you express my sentiments completely. However, with the U.S. being pretty much alone on this issue. I am thinking I will be making a few adjustments to my knowledge base, If I can.

It was tried once, but the loud crying kinda killed it off. Metric measurement is so much easier to use. And I carry both inch and metric tools in the MH toobox.

We in the USA have been "alone" in may regards for centuries - lower taxation, better representation, superior personal freedoms and lifestyles - and we've steadily been both envied and hated for those differences - an embarrassment to countries that DIDN'T or just WOULDN'T provide them.

But England, Europe and the rest of the Socialist world have been steadily, relentlessly reeling us in, making us more like THEM - and we're nearly all the way there - metrics is trivial by comparison to all the other standards lost...

A meter is a little over 39 inches. But can anyone explain to me why Ford decided that metric being secondary and smaller on the speedometer in the US, but it is also printed in flat dull red on my MH '06 Speedo and is near impossible to read during the day while traveling down a Canadian Hwy at speed.
