So what I'm hearing says that generator use IS taken into account. Good to know. Thanks for all the responses.

Well the gas being used by the generator as you drive is not metered by the Main Engine Control computer so it is NOT taken into account directly.

However the computer is measuring the tank level constantly and thus it will update every time it re-calcs based on how much fuel is in the tank. To date. I have let mine get down to teh point where it did not wish to estimate (I think that's like 30 miles) and I've not had to walk more than the distance from the pump to the fuel desk (And that I have to walk anyway since I pay cash). I can tell you though when ti drops to 2 digits I get a bit....er.. .nervious.

Hey guys, Thanks for all the inputs. I sleep better when I've learned some new information. Some times a glass of wine also helps.

My little input back on post #3 was just a guess. I've never read anything about it but it makes sense to use what the computer already knows and is constantly monitoring.

Most class a have a safety feature to shut down generator when you get below 1/4 tank of fuel. That is a signal to look for fuel. Plus I have found that I only burn about 1/2 gallon of gas per hour when operating generator going down the road.

I don't like for the fuel guage to go under 1/2 tank. If I'm pushing hard maybe. I like to have a nice reserve on board. You never know when you may get stranded and your fuel becomes important. Besides psychologicaly is doesn't seem as expensive to fill a 1/2 tank twice then an empty tank once.

So, if I drive at 65 MPH with my genset running I should get 130 MPG?

I think he failed to mention that his rear wheels are connected to two electric motors (just like locomotives) that turn the wheels when his gen is running. That's still awful good MPG.

My fuel tank has a much greater range than my bladder. I usually fill up at about 275 to 300 miles. That puts me at a touch more than 1/2 tank usage.
