Missing Bushing Bracket

I crawled under my coach tonight to do the CHF. When doing so, I noticed that the bushing was just hanging there. The bracket is completely missing!!!!!

I don't really feel like taking it into the Ford dealership. Getting the Tow/Haul fix took 4 hours of sitting there for them to look it up, and then getting someone out to do a 20 minute program. Can I just pickup the bracket/bolts (do I need any nuts) from a dealership and do it myself correctly?

Also for the CHF, mine has a z-bracket, and I cant seem to get the bolt off from the z-bracket. Should I spray some lube on it, let it sit, and then try pushing it out, or is the bolt somehow locked into the z-bracket (pictures 2&3)?

Nevermind, figured this part out, CHF all done.

Now just need the bracket.

While your at go ahead and change the bushings to Polyurethane. They are available on Ebay for $40.

You're going to really notice a change as you are going from "no" sway bar (missing bracket) to the tight sway bar setting.

Surprised you weren't hearing some clunk noises with no bracket.

I was hearing a clunk noise every now and again, couldn't figure out where it was coming from!

Any idea where I can get the U bracket locally?

Called Ford dealership and they have it locally and will have it to me tomorrow. $20 for both bracket and bolts. It's under warranty but not worth 2 gallons of gas and 2-3 hours worth of waiting to have it looked at and fixed.

Rayzor - See if they will give them to you under warranty anyway.

This is a very common problem with the F53s 2006 and up.

When you install them, use blue locktite and torque them to 65 ft lbs.

I am probably going to sell or trade this coach in before next spring. I wanted to test the CHF as my next coach will also be on the F53 chassis. Wife has cut me off for spending anymore $$ on this since it won't be around much longer. I got her to agree to the 5star tune though since it will also work on the next one

I do not believe the 5 star tune is transferable to another vehicle. I believe it it for a specific ECM. I may be wrong, call 5 Star.

I emailed them and they said it would be.

Thank you for your inquiry. Given your 2016 coach the below 7015FS tuner will be the perfect pairing for your application. The tuner would also work on your next Ford chassis coach including 2018.

It is not typical that a dealership will provide parts over the counter under the vehicle warranty. Too much paperwork, too much liability, too much hassle dealing with the OE and explaining to do. They would probably just toss you the parts and eat them to not deal with the issues.

I tried myself recently for recall parts (tie rod ends) as the closest dealer was three hours round trip away (that would work on it). Ended up not needing the parts anyway, but it was a nice drive

SB bushing brackets coming loose is a common problem and well discussed. Tejay brought this to everyone's attention awhile ago.

In a nut shell....
• Bathe the bushing in Lube before you attach new bracket
• No you don't need nuts
• Put a little Blue Lactate on bolt threads
• Torque to 66ft. lbs.

Here's a thread that explains more:
