Bought a 2008 Bounder 34G on a 2007 F53 chassis last year. Want to get better hill climbing torque without the constant downshifting.

The three options I have found are :
1. Banks intake air improvement
2. Ultrapower
3. Banks exhaust improvement

The first 2 are in my budget range and I would like to start there but can't find much information on how much this will help.

The 3rd option is over my budget but may give the best results. I have some reservation about the improvement here since I have read a few times that the newer F53 have improved manifold and exhaust.

The Dyno charts on the Ultrapower site are for a 2003 V10 and it almost looks like the torque stays the same when Ultrapower is added to Banks Powerpack. This leads me to believe that the Ultrapower alone won't help much.

Anyone have experience with the newer Ford v10 and Ultrapower?

Thanks

Please check, I don't think Ultra power or Bank's have a system that improves the 06 and newer F53 chassis. On our old coach, the Ford dealer re-flashed the PCM and improved it sum what. But that was after they installed a new engine. I know Brazel's was working on something, but don't know if they were done yet. Good luck, you can always improve the air cleaner and exhaust.

My dealer put my Banks system on upon purchase. Not sure I would have done it if I had to do it myself or at a later date, it was just convenient to pick it up with the Banks already installed. You'd have to call Brazel's and see if Ultrapower applies to the newer V10s. If it does, I may add Ultrapower if I have some extra $$$ laying around in the future. But to answer your question, I would do #3 and #1 in that order. Definitely get rid of the stock headers.

I think you are right that #3 will give better results but at much greater expense.
I have read a few times that the exhaust system is much better on 2006+ but nothing I can be certain of because it was only mentioned in a forum and not anything official from Ford.
Just hoping to get good bang for my smaller investment from #1&2.
Brazel's tell me that a Ultrapower version for 2006+ should be available next year. I would like to hear of anyone trying it out before I leap into it.

Well that's good news from Brazel's. Though I have a feeling that Ford has squeezed as much as it can from this engine. As you can see from the dyno graph of the older Ford, Ultrapower doesn't add too much to an engine with Banks. But we'll see what they can do.

Had the Banks system on 2 Fords with Trans Command and improved shifting and pulling power on hills, but it is expensive. Brazels has made some believers of Ultra Power and gives more to seat of your pants feel and improved gas mileage on Fords and Workhorse chassis.
A call to them may give you the reason to wait on a upgrade and cost will be alot less.

Folks
Thanks for your input.
It just solidifies my view that perhaps nothing much will help the newer V-10.
However, if Ultrapower does pull the rabbit out of the hat, I will be the first one into the easter egg hunt.

Thanks
Judd

One item that people most overlook with UltraPower on the Ford's, is that not only do we squeeze some more pony's out of them...we also tune the transmission to the same exact effects that Bank's Transcommand gives you. Why buy a Transcommand and pay for the labor to have it installed when you can bundle the engine/tranny into one (and not pay any labor!)

We will keep you guys updated when we get our newly programmed software, and let you know how it works!

Yes, the transmission is part of the problem. I find that when in Cruise control it will keep dropping down a gear until the rpm is around 5000. That is way too much revs for my liking so I keep a finger on the cruise button and pop it out as soon as it does that. On even slightly hilly country it does this and it is getting annoying. I usually drive at about 60mph so am not looking for speed just smooth driving.

I had 2 Ford vehicles with E4ODs and if I could do in software what was previously accomplished using a Banks Trans Command man I'd go for it!

I know that the results I obtained from my first install made it easy for me to buy a second TC sight unseen for my (then) new 97 PSD. I really liked that truck! The 7.3 was loud and obnoxious but everybody knew that it was definitely a diesel!

I have the same 2007 F53 Ford chassis, all I did was to get rid of the Ford muffler. I installed a Magnaflo muffler and over a 4400 mile trip I increased my mileage about 1.5 mpg. Also the decrease the back pressure so that the engine will breath better.
I considered a banks sustem but with the Magnaflo I think I did just as well in power and reducing back pressure.

Thats good news on the Magnaflow.
I checked their website but couldn't find a muffler for the F53.
Which one did you put on?
Did you notice less downshifting going up hills?

I just went to the local Magnaflo dealer and he had on in stock.
There is a little more noise but the up and down shifting was at a min.
I traveled from Fresno to West Yellowstone and then headed east to Cody, Greybull to Sherdian Wy. it pull the mountains with no problem. It did downshift a bit going up the mts. from Greybull to Sherdian.
Over all I am quite happy with the results of the change over.
