Just order a new coach our first new one with the 22,500 pounder and 22.5 tires . I would like to hear first hand from owners how long till the first oil change and how long did it take to get the mpg up. My 2003 gets about 7.7 to 8.2 . While break in will I be in the 5 to 6 range or lower and when will it start to get better . Thanks.

We got our MH on the 24th of September and had the FIRST Oilchange done on Oct. 03 at 2,480 Miles, b4 we went on a longer Trip.
From Newmar to Vancouver is a few miles, so - I wanted NEW Oil in.
MPG was at the beginning a bit over 7. From about 10,000 miles it went over 8.
We drive around 55 miles, pretty steady.

We got our M/H, a 32BA Allegro in August. So far we have only been on several sort trips of 200 -300 miles towing a Lexus RX300. I follow the mileage closely and so far the best we have gotten 6.7 mpg. We have just a little ways to go to get our first 3000 miles and I will get the first oil change then. I will use synthetic oil, whether that will help or not I don't know. I'm hoping the mileage will improve a little over time.

They claim they don't need as much break in now and due to better machining and tolerances that the oil doesn't have to be changed as soon on a new engine.

The biggest problem I have with coaches is that they drive it to the dealer from the factory. You miss out on that break in procedure you get to do with a car. I doubt very much the driver, that brings the coach to the dealer, varies speed on the highway much, and it's one time you can pray for traffic so it gives the engine more of a varied workout.
I still like to change my oil as soon as I get it and then again at 1000 before starting my normal 3K oil changes. Every engine I built for my hot rods back in the day I changed the oil at 100 for the first as it takes out the heavy lube I used on assembly, factory coatings, and also the tiny metal particles from bearings and machined parts as they break in and seat properly. I also subscribe to the old school thought that dino oil is good for the first couple of longer term changes before going to synthetic. From an engineering standpoint I don't see there would be a real difference but I still do it anyway. The factories do put out some of the cars with synthetic right from the get go.

I just went over my gas logs for the Class C that was delivered to the dealer at 1300 miles. It averaged 8.65 over three years without any deviation over 18K miles. That was with generator use during dog shows, boondocking , mountains, flat land, with tow car on it most of the time. Not much difference in the mileage in the beginning or after break in.
I am an easy driver, no fast acceleration unless needed for safe merge into traffic. 55 to 60 mph.
Coach was 6.0 liter chevy with a coach that weighed in at the scale at 13,360 pounds with full water and fuel and towing a car that was 2600 lbs.for those first 3 years.
The mileage went down the addition of the CRV which is around 3600 lbs ( CRV weight is an estimate I haven't run it by the scale yet) to 8.12 avg but that is only over a period of 6 months.
