My '02 V-10 has 42K on it and never had the doghouse off. I do regular maintenance usually on a time base rather than miles so it has been well maintained. For me, on my 32 ft. it has really worked out good. I tow a 4500# toad so it slows down some on hills bit everything I've owned does too.

Lots of good information here if you do have problems.

I have a 99 with 93.000 miles on it without problems. I tow a Jeep Wrangler and am satisfied with the performance. Mine is only 275 HP, that one should be 310 HP. I am satisfied with the chassis, but did add a Safe-T-Plus and air bags front and rear. Put new Monroe shocks on at 63,000 miles.

I had a 2000 Itasca Suncruiser 37G V10. I took it to 42 states including Alaska and had zero problems with either engine or transmission.

Have you seen this Blog entry? Ford F-Series for 2011

I expect to have another interview with Dan Snyder this year at the RVIA Exposition and find out what's going to be newer for 2011 and what might be learned about 2012.

I do expect the postion I wrote about (74%) in the last paragraph has improved considerably.

I found the above link interesting but I'm confused. It said Ford was skipping the 2010 chassis and jumping right from 2009 to 2010. I ordered my 2011 Coachmen in April of 2010 and it was delivered in June. My understanding is that Coachmen calls it a 2011 model but it's on a 2010 F-53 chassis. My chassis serial number is 1F66F5DY0B0A01273Isn't that a 2010 chassis number?

I have an 02--35ft--Adv and enjoy it very much. Have had it for 6 yrs and have had no problems with engine or trans. It has 45000 miles and the only thing I get alittle ticked about is power on long uphill climb. I just need to sit back and relax as I am retired and in no hurry!!! I tow a Honda CRV and it handles it very good....

We have a 2005 Georgie Boy Pursuit (35th Anniversary Edition) 35ft w/2 slides and now have 47,000 miles. It has been cross country towing a Jeep Cherokee. Only issue would be towing toad up BIG Mountains (Blk Mtn in N. Carolina & around Aspin Colo). Just pulled into right lane, took it out of OD. No overheat, No problem, just a little slower. Do my own maintenance and did find one of those futo valves (alowing just small valve to be moved to remove oil instead of taking oil pan nut off each time very handy)... Hope this helps........bill

KJB, OEMs will buy a number or rails when the buying is good. They will then use these one at a time and build out orders. When the new model year starts, there is nothing that an OEM needs to justify about building a 2011 coach on a 2009 or 2010 chassis. I have seen 2008 RDPs for example being built on 2005 chassis (not Ford).

I am not privileged to be able to provide documentation that sustains Ford's build strategy that the 2010 model year (VIN#) was skipped.

The rail seen in the Blog is most likely to be a 2009 chassis. It takes time and effort to prep out a show chassis in full paint for a show. The point I believe that Ford wants to share with their customers is that the chassis has pushed out the technology curve and that the product will remain stable until at least June 2011.

Although rails built in year 2010 may be stamped 2010 in their VIN#, the model year technology would be 2011 and this I expect sustains the announcement that they made.

KJB, that is a 2011 VIN. 10th digit is 'B' for 2011.

ljr869, I would not disagree with that since Workhorse will also show a "B" in the 10th digit for a 2011 chassis. Perhaps this position is consistent for all types of vehicles.

The letter schema might continue to run from A to Y, 25 years. I've seen model year 2000 ID'ed with a "Y" on the P Series before it went to numbers for the 200"1" model year. Then it starts all over again.

That's good to know. I didn't know they went to letters for model year designation. Thanks.

OSSKOBRET,

The Ford V10 is a good engine, but it does have it's quirks, just like any other. I would check the exhaust manifold studs for corrosion. My 2000 Bounder only has 27,000 miles on it, but two of the passenger side rear manifold studs rusted and fell off, causing an exhaust leak. It was a real pain fixing it. This is a known issue with the V10. Other than that, I would just confirm regular oil changes and a transmission service.
