Wanted to get a wh chassis but drove a couple and liked the Ford better. I hope the Ford will be reliable!

To, Connor2002,

The Ford F-53 has been around a long time and Ford has made improvments over this period.

If it was bad, not selling, it wouldn't be around.

Happy motoring and camping and good luck with new ig.

Steve,
Did you get the new Ford chassis? The engine/tranny is supposed to be a nice setup. Go to your profile page and update the info on your rig. That way, we will be able to see what you have for any future questions or commnets that you may have.
I think you will like your Ford. I know I do.

Hi Steve, we've had our rig on the Ford chassis with the v10 for 5 years now and extremely happy with it. As ISLAPP mentioned, if you can, get the new 06 chassis as it has more power and a 5 speed tranny.

Good luck with your choice,

Hi Steve,

We just got back from our maiden trip with our new '06 Ford chassis and transmission.

I'm very pleased with the performance.

When we were looking to purchase our new toy most of the folks we spoke to suggested going with Workhorse. Those same folks also suggested adding on the Tru-center steering damper.

Let me tell you, the Ford is setup (no tru-center) just fine. We use to tow travel trailers and I would actual get white knuckles when we were passed by a semi. The '06 Ford doesn't budge when the semis pass. Even when they sneak up on you the puppy stays true.

This morning we left a campground in Virginia headed north on I-95. The fellow that overnighted next to us last night has a new Workhorse and was behind us. When we began to climb the grades he began to lose ground. While the Ford just kept chunking alone.

Initially, I thought I had made a mistake by not going with the Workhorse. We test drove the two different units and I honestly couldn't see any difference. So why spend the extra 6 to 8 grand for the Workhorse?

I can honestly tell you after our first 1300 mile round trip, I'm glad we went with the Ford.

FWIW

Jim

It is really good to see positive post on the Ford chassis. I was beginning to think Irv2 had turned into a Workhorse site. I am into the 5th year on my Ford chassis and I couldn't be more pleased. I haven't had to add anything for stability, or ride, and she handles like a car. Gas mileage isn't great but I don't expect great mileage from driving a house down the road. We just returned from a pleaseant 3000 mile trip, chassis performance was outstanding, feel very confident with the F-53.

We had a '99 F53 and would still have it today if it had slides with a little more room. Never had a problem with it and, didn't have to add all these aftermarket products to make it into a good MH. Enjoy!!

This is my first post. I just bought an 06 Damon Daybreak 3272 on the F-53 Chassis. It is the 06 Chassis, with the new features. Seems to have good power. We will be taking it out on it's maiden voyage this weekend to a local State Beach Campsite. Will give full report when we return. I did confirm the chassis as I was not sure I got the 06. I visually verified the new air intake, the tow haul mode on the gear selector, the remote trans filter, and the new fuel regulator. I also verified with the vin. My reason for concern was that the chassis manufacture date is Aug 05, but it has all the 06 features and is listed on the vin as an 06.

Great site!

Bill

I agree it is a great site

As stated in an earlier post please let us know your thoughts on the '06 ford chassis after the trip.

Travel safe and enjoy the journey.
