On my old 2002 Ford V10 it was 6 qts of Ford 5w20w oil and filter . Was looking at the owners manual and it said 7 qts did they up one qt in the new v10 or what. I do my own oil changes and it has the little filter like my old one so it is not the bigger filter . Please help if you have the newer v10 and let me know Thanks.

What does the dip stick say after you change the filter and add six quarts?

I have owned an 05' V-10 and now have an 08' chassis - both specify 7 quarts but I have not been able to get a full 7 in when I've changed oil and filter.......more like 6 1/2 qt..
As stated, refer to dip stick as you add.

What Dave said above....I just did my 2010 Baystar (I think the chassis is an 09) and it held 6.5 qts.

Cliff's comment made me go out and check my manual again.....I was wrong, my 2008 chassis manual states 6 qt's not 7. Guess I suffer from CRS

Guess I was thinking that I always have added an extra half qt. or so to get it up to full on dipstick which I'm not sure is necessary now that I think about it.

Dands. I've been told that it's not good to overfill. It's better to be 1/2 down than 1/2 over. As far as the op's question , Ford has an excellent RV cust svc dept. Since no one has answered you , their # is 800-444-3311

You have been told right. Never, never go over your full mark. Going over your full mark will cause aeration in the oil pan. Then you pump is sucking bubble's and not oil. Not good.

Adding an extra half qt. or so has never put me "over" the full mark on the dip stick so I guess I am confused as to where the level should be. At the full mark or halfway between the full and add marks where it would be with 6 quarts.

I use a NAPA #1087 long filter for v10 and use six and a half quorts. Book states 6, coach comes with short filter from Ford. My chassis is an 07.

Well I have a diesel and I always run mine between the add and full marks. I do this to stop the blow by. I just have to be sure to check the oil at each stop.
