Part # for serpentine belt 2004 Fleetwood Southwind

So, this weekend I wasted my time attempting to put on a new serpentine belt on as preventive maintenance. I assume mine is the original and at 60K miles and 14 years I figured it is due. I bought the rig 6 years ago used with 14 K miles.
I bought a belt on-line from Advance Auto Parts and as I was installing it found it to be too long. I called to confirm even using my Ford VIN and it gave us the same part number.
I am at a loss as to how to get the correct part from any parts supplier.

If you still have the old one, take it to NAPA/etc and have it measured and matched.

Old one back on the rig. I was attempting to change while at the campground while there with my son. Two people makes the job much easier.

Plan B is crank in small increments and look for a belt number.

It should be 110 inches.. I recommend the Continental belt (#4081102). I guarantee it will NOT chirp. Look at the diagram in the article and see if it matches yours.

I summarized all the info and part numbers I could find about belts for F53 6.8L in this post: http://www.irv2.com/forums/f23/serpe...ml#post4419581

That info should apply to probably the last 20 model years.

As Waiter21 noted, the 110" is the length to remember. After that you need to know if it is a 6 rib or 8 rib belt. As far as I know the 6 rib belt has been used since the 2002 model year.

I am going to go to the storage unit tomorrow and remove the belt for exact measurement. All I know is that the belt (6 rib) I got to replace the one that is on there now WAS longer even though all numbers on the packaging and the belt itself were correct for my engine. Checked and double checked. I found a Ford Motorcraft JK61107 belt that happened to be in one of my storage cabinets from the previous owner that was even longer than the long belt I purchased from Advance Auto Parts.
Call me confused.

One a separate note, do you think these belts a lot of us like to keep on hand for spares age just like tires do?

Belts would age but they're not out in the sun like tires. I kept the belt I took off to use as a spare if ever necessary but it would be for very short term use until I could get a new belt.

Maybe the belt tensioner needs to be replaced on yours.

It might be easier to think of the lengths of these belts in millimeters. A belt with an effective length of 2800mm would match the recommended JK61107 Motorcraft 6 rib belt. The metric part number would be 6PK2800. A slightly shorter belt would be a 6PK2790 - 10mm shorter.

The JK61107 should be a perfect fit though so I'd be looking at the tensioner. Was the actual Motorcraft JK61107 part number visible on the old belt that was in the cabinet or was that on the packaging? I'll put an old belt back in the new belt's cardboard to keep it wrapped up but I write old belt on the cardboard.

Waiter21's site has the best belt routing diagram I've seen: http://www.1999southwind.com/f53-ser...t-replacement/ - it shows two idler pulleys and that is what's on my '02.

I just put a 110” day on my 04 v-10. Very tight fit. Bought a 111” for a spare. Belts are Dayco.

When talking about length it is useful to know that there are two length measurements for these belts. Those are Effective length and Circumference.

The JK61107 is the Motorcraft recommended 6 rib belt. The circumference is 110 7/8 inches and the effective length would be approximately 110 1/4 inches.

The Dayco 5061105 circumference is approximately 111 1/8 and its effective length is listed as 110 1/2 inches.

Installed the JK61107 belt this afternoon. Little tricky by myself but nonetheless done.
