We have a 2001 Dutch star on a Ford chassie with a v10 with 35K miles on it. We have had this problem twice now. It seems that after running the unit for a while when we go to re-start the rv we have no power when we turn the key on. After waiting a time for what we think is cooling down time the rv starts right up. The last time we just pulled into our site and we were going to move the rv a little. We turned the key and have no power anywhere on the dash. I am looking for some where to start or if anyone else has had this problem

If you are looking for somewhere to start, consider removing and cleaning your battery cables as unlikely as that might sound. It's where I would start.

We already checked the battery and cable, battreyies are new and cables are tight and clean. The only thing that fixed the problem was to let the rv sit and cool down, then it has power and starts right up.

I previously owned a Chevy suburban as a tow vehicule which did the same thing for about two years. Turned out that the wire between the ignition switch and starter solenoid was undersized and poorly insulated allowing heat soak. Read somewhere about the problem and solution was replace wire. I connected a heavier wire to the orginal wire as close as possible to the ignition switch and the other end to the starter solenoid creating a double circuit. End of problem

Welcome Mike4mar to irv2.
While driving have you lost power by moving the ignition switch around or maybe have a loose wire to it. If you use your wheel adjustment allot wiring harness may have a wire braking down when stretched or wire coming open.
Have you ever changed the fuel filter? Back in 96 had a Ford v-10 that would stall out when weather got hot, would stop side of road and wait till it cooled down than would pull into gas station and fill with fresh cool fuel and could travel till next day.
Turns out 96 Fords had allot of fuel pump problems. Not saying thats it but very similar problem.

This has only happen we stopped and trying to start RV. We have never ahd a problem going down the road. Last year it did it once while unit was cold and it took several times re-cycling the key to get power to dash and turn engine over. This last time it did it while hot and trying to re-start and it took about an hour of not touching anything to get the key to power the dash and turn the engine over. It seems to be an issue with either the keym, wiring or some relay in that system.

I just had a problem with starting because of a loose wire in starter circuit on a 5 amp fuse mounted to battery solenoid.
I have a different chassis but it looks as though you need someone to look at your starting circuit.
If you can not get steering cover off and check wiring to ignition switch you need a traveling Road Mechanic.
