Replacing F53 Alternator

I have had the random engine dying issue with odb code p0720 . It seems that a shorted diode in the alternator is a common cause of this.

I looked at the alternator from inside the coach through the access hatch, and it isn't obvious how anyone who wasn't double jointed could replace it. Its on top of the engine, so it can't be reached from underneath either.

Has anyone ever changed their f53 alternator or knows some tricks about how do the replacement?

Coach is 2001 Pace Arrow Vision.

You just have to crawl in there and get it out about the only way to do it.

I've been wondering the same thing... Maybe someone with experience can chime in. Is it easier to remove the radiator and get to it from the front? Do you do it blind?

I had ours replaced by my mechanic, he worked from inside the R/V,after removing the doghouse. He changed both belts also.

Pace Arrow uses a two piece doghouse. The top small cover opens right up. This is for regular service. For heavy service, you have to pull the edge of the carpet back from the base of the doghouse, remove all fasteners, cut the sealant loose from the floor and the base. There are usually a couple of screws in the firewall that hold the front in. remove these and remove the doghouse base. Make sure to reseal the base with silicone when you go back.
