Hi

We have a '96- 34' Winnie Adv. on the F53 Chassis 460 V8 . It is running a little rough, it is at the mechanics now, there are no codes comming up on the scanner, he checked the coil and something about the ohmes was off,so he changed that, the timing is ok, the EGR is ok,fuel pressure is where it should be,(new pump April '08),it runs rough when pulling out once you get to 2000 rpm's it smooths out. Any body have any idea what it could be? Thanks Rick & Robin

Have you checked the spark plug wires? I have a 96 Vectra with a 454 and #8 plug wire will break down because of the heat (poor cooling airflow in this area of the engine). I have a friend with the same RV and he pulled the dog house off and ran the engine at night and saw "blue sparks" coming from the wires so he changed all of the plug wires. Also the wires have a specific routing so they don't cross over each other when routed to the spark plugs, check the routing.
Good luck,
Ron

Could be a faulty TPS (throttle position sensor) or MAS (mass airflow sensor) but that should show up as a trouble code on the scanner

I agree with Ron. Change out your plug wires. They do go bad and are a cheap fix.

Hi Everyone, Thanks for the help, I heard from the mechanic a few minutes ago. Two problems: plug wire boot was arcing out on heat shield on passenger side last cyl.and a vaccum leak in a hose that had a factory plul in it (he did a smoke test)
Again thanks for the help,
Rick & Robin
We leave for Fort Wilderness on July 20th. ( a week to get there , a week there ,and a week to come home)

Glad to hear your problem fixed and wasn't too serious.
