Is anybody running the Safe T Plus steering stabilizer on their MH. Would love to hear some opinions on whether this would be a good upgrade.
Thanks,
Troy

I would recommend it.
You might want to search these forums for that topic. LOTS of discussions and opinions on the steering stabilizer upgrade.

Yep, I've had mine for four years and love it. Do use the search function and you'll find tons of reading material on STP and other alternatives.

I have one too. It made a difference in my steering and gives me peace of mind should I get a front blow out. Well worth the $$.

You are aware that as your vehicle speed increases, the oem power steering assist decreases; leaving a lot of control in your hands. With the damper installed, it keeps you dead straight ahead and offers immediate resistance to drifting, wind effect, semis passing wake and catastrophic front tire blowout. These features alone won me over on installing it on my former Winnabago gasser [used 8 years] and now, a newer coach [7 yrs so far].The bonus was when DW could get behind the wheel and not have to have Popeye's arms in order to drive down the freeway.
BTW, One manufacture model has a dash mounted control to re-center the center setting on-the-fly as road conditions change. I am pleased as I can be with the standard model I currently have & have little cause for adjustment. Might reexamine that issue if I buy a diesel and do full time out-West travel where a whole new host of road conditions might warrant having the ability to adjust.

So what is the difference between the STP and the steering stabilizer that came on the RV ?

I'm going to review my post. Today I tried to get out of a flying J and couldn't turn left. I backed up and got out and checked the front end. The Safety Steer springs came off both sides and the left side jammed itself into the wheel. It took 2 hrs to unbolt the left side and it's bent beyond repair. I suspect it was a bad install but what if that happened on the road at 60 mph? I now don't have a safety Steer installed.

The Safe T Plus and Steer Safe are two very different products but designed to do the same thing. Different manufacturers and completely different design. I had never heard of this happening with a Steer Safe though. Pretty scary.

I meant the Steer Safe unit. Real scary. We had hit some rough roads and I heard something hit the bottom of the coach like I ran over something but I knew I didn't. I can't believe BOTH sides lost the springs. This was a wake up call for me. I'm crawling under the coach today to take off the other side.

I've got 22 hours behind the wheel of the new MH and when we get back I definitely will be adding the STP to my rig.

The SafeTPlus is standard on most if not all Freightliner trucks. I don't know why it's not standard on MH chassis as well.

We had one installed and what a difference. I wonder if the bracket on the tie rod could get loose. I will have to check when I get under to change oil and grease.

After fighting cross winds on our trip back home, I went and ordered the STP for my new RV. I hope that they are as good as everyone is saying.
