I'm having off and on "click" sounds to right of engine compartment in area of starter. Is the selenoid able to be changed without pulling the starter or do they go hand in hand? Would like to know if the starter relay should be changed at the same time? If so, where is it located. I have cleaned all battery post and cables, and checked the connections to the starter,(2), batteries all have a full charge. Any help would be appreciated.
Thanks

Jump across solonoid with pliar handles(lots of amps). If spins over, replace. In no way means starter has to be replaced.

Check the wire going from the relay to the solenoid with a test light, if it lights when the click is heard the relay is OK.
Starter relay location:

Evidently the relay can be a problem on the F53. I found the following on the Ford truck forum
"For your no crank problem, you need to replace the starter relay. A common Ford problem. On a MH chassis it is located low on the backside of the passenger side radiator bulkhead. On most coaches, this can be reached by crawling into the RF wheelwell and pulling back any splash guard just above the frame rail. Make sure to disconnect batteries (chassis and coach) before replacing. Relay is only about $10 at auto parts store."

On ours it's on the left side right where the floor transitions to the engine cover.

This thread has been priceless, i was having this same problem. Sometimes it would start and sometimes it wouldn't. I climbed under the front of the motorhome and into the wheelwell pulled back the splash guard and there it was.
Replaced it and now MH is working and cranking fine.
Thanks for all the info.
