I have a 1997 Winnebago F53 Ford chassis. The starter will not disengage when I try to crank the engine. I have replaced the battery, starter, solenoid, and ignition switch. I have not been able to locate the starter relay. I have cleaned and tightened the positive and the ground connections. Can anyone tell me where the starter relay is located and suggest where to look for the problem? This is normally an indication of low voltage or a bad connection. Please help.

Jim, I see you're not getting any responses, I'm not familiar with the 97 chassis, but all I can suggest is that you try tracing the heavy 12v lead attached to the terminal on the starter back away from the starter and you should wind up finding the solenoid relay somewhere along the way. that's about the best I can offer.

Good luck on your search.

Look at Right front radiator support on the side near frame, or remove doghouse and look left front panel near gas pedal on outside. Why are you just replacing parts, without testing?

When you say wont disengage does the starter start running as soon as you connect the batt. ? Or does the starter drive "BENDIX" just not unmesh from the ring gear? With a helper and a test light test for power at the small lug on the starter. If it goes on and off with the key it is a mechanical problem at or with the starter. Although unusual with ford it may just need shimmed. If power stays on follow the pos bat cable from the batt and it should lead to the solo often near or behind the batt. Unhook the small lead red/light blue from the solo if the starter stops the problem is in the ignition sw circuit. If it continues the solo contacts are welded togerher.
