Suggested Upgrades

Hi all,
It appears I'll be replacing the 460 Ford in my 94 Sea Breeze, and I'd appreciate some input on what upgrades are worthwhile during the engine swap.
I am thinking an RV cam, Thorley headers and a decent muffler would be a good starting point.
If you have any reman engine suppliers you can recommend, that would be appreciated as well.
It also seems to me that the only way that engine is coming out is through the bottom, so I would suspect there will be some dismantling of the front suspension. Are there upgrades to the steering and suspension components that would be worthwhile now?
This unit sees about 5k miles (many in the Canadian Rockies) per year, and of course, there is a limit to the $$ I can spend. Any advice you might have where I would get the best bang for my buck would be gratefully received.
Thanks in advance.

If I were replacing an engine, I would find a good machine shop and have the original rebuilt. I know of no other upgrades other than all new ball joints and other moving hardware.

I have no personal experience with either of these, but would contact Ford and Jasper for a replacement engine.

Its alway better to rebuild what you have rather then replace it with an unknown. Find a good performance machine shop in you area and have them rebuild you engine. It will cost more but you will end up with a better rebuild.

For sure go with a high capacity aluminum water pump. Edelbrock makes a very good one.

I'm very happy with my RV cam, increased CR to 9:1 (which makes zero decking the block a must) intake manifold match, Gibson headers and exhaust system. I probably should have had the heads flowed also. Maybe next year.

I would have what you have rebuilt. I would also make it 9:1 compression but make it 540 cubic inches. We use this set up in boats and medium duty trucks. They live long making tons of torque
