Torque converter & seal cost

I have a small seepage around my transmission pan (4-6 drops in a week.) I don't think it's been seeping long. In researching threads on this forum, it seems the worst case scenario might be a leaking torque converter seal.

What can I expect to pay to replace a torque converter and seal? Is this a job for a Ford dealership or can any good mechanic do this? I'm just looking for a ballpark figure. This is a 2010 WGO on a 2009 F53 chassis. Thanks.

Usually the torque converter seal doesn't get the pan wet. Is the bellhousing wet?

Any competent mechanic can do this job. Ask the mechanic to also replace the bushing. It's a $5-$10 part, and it could be the root cause of the seal failing, if indeed it is failed.

If the converter, seal, and bushing need to be replaced you're looking at about $1,000.

Thanks Mark,
That's good news and gooder news. I wondered how ATF was getting to the driver's side of the pan from the torque converter but, hey, what do I know! I'm just a user. I'm sure I could find a better use for a grand but it's not the end of the world, either. I'll ask my wrench to take a look at it.
