First we would need to know what make car you are towing.
Look in your owners manuel ..most of them will have a page on that. Or you could call the manufacture or a dealer.
Good luck

If you are referencing the tow button on the RV shift lever, you leave it in drive. This causes the transmission to downshift during braking and it does other things.

I leave my E-450 in Drive, I use the tow/haul button to quicken the shift points and for down shifting on hills or when the pull warrants it. It also provides a nice back pressure on down hill grades.

I want to thank all of you for the replies. My first message wasn't very clear, I was asking about the RV. The responses are very helpful and it is now clear to me that I should tow it in Drive. I tried it yestarday and could feel the difference with the tow/haul button engaged. I am very comfortable driving the RV and have put alot of miles on it, but this is the first time I am towing with it. I am practicing in preparation for taking the kids on spring break to San Antonio, TX.

Again, thank you.

Tom
