I recently purchased a used National RV that is built on the new Ford 2006 F53 chassis. As such, it is equipped with the 5 speed 5R100 trans. I can't find anywhere in the Ford specs, or online with filter manufacturers what the correct filter replacement number is. Apparently there are two, the usual internal one and a second external filter. Anyone know the correct filter replacement numbers or where to find them? Thanks

I would suggest you call Ford Customer Service at 800 444-3311 they should be able to assist you. Sometimes the filter will have a Mfg. name and number on it.
Good luck

It will be the same filter that is listed for the Ford F 550 chassis.

Thanks Richard. Where were you able to obtain that part number? Perhaps I can get the number for the internal filter (or kit) as well.
Jim

I got the remote filter # from fleetford.com. You can also find parts on the Motorcraft web site.
Good Luck

I called our local Ford store and even with the VIN the parts guy couldn't accurately pin down the correct filter. He gave me one of two options and said that once I pull it he could match it up. Unfortunately, he is 85 miles away from me and it is unlikely I'll travel there with a drippy filter 'in hopes' I can get a replacement. I'll keep looking, sometimes living rurally can be trying.

Thank you, I'll look forward to your posting them. This chassis driveline combo has been out for at least 2 years and I can't believe I can't find anything definitive on it. Thanks again.

The small external filter is a Wix 57702 (NAPA 7702), the internal filter is a ATP 1-8684 (NAPA 1-8684). We have a fleet of E450's at work that have the V10, 5 speed trans that use these filters. I'm sure the F550/F53 use the same trans & filters. When I was trying to find these filters for work the external filter was easy, it took me a while to figure out the internal filter. Hope this helps you.

On the topic of the 4R100 external transmission filter, Ford deleted the external filter effective June 2007.
They now utilize a new high mileage internal transmission filter and increased the service interval from 24 to 36 months.
I found that rather interesting, and even more, why.
I found the information here: https://www.fleet.ford.com/tru...008/whatsnew2008.pdf
Scroll to pg 34.

Jimary, Thank you. Those filter numbers help alot. They would not come up on the Wix website for me, and our local Parts Plus can't seem to find them either. I mis-identified the trans originally as a 5R100, I actually meant a 5R110 but I think we have it covered now. LVJ58, the four speed trans is an entirely different animal.

redboots, I mistakenly typed 4R100 rather than 5R110, and just for informational purposes I was relating the change Ford made of deleting the external filter on the later model 5R110 trannys.
Hope you're able to find the filter you need.
Good Luck, Jim
