Transmission/Engine Problem

Keep getting Service Engine Soon faults due to the transmission & engine not in sync. Replaced the Output Speed Sensor (X4) and Alternator (X2). When acting up, you press on the gas pedal and the engine revs up but the RV does not move. Then it bangs into gear and you move. Getting electrical (fluctuates) speed out of transmission when sitting still or driving slow. Ok at higher speeds. Help??!!

Welcome to iRV2.

Sorry you're here with problems.

Could you please, add the year and chassis model to your post and transmission type if you know it.

Low atf level?

How do you come up with "Getting electrical (fluctuates) speed out of transmission"?

Sounds like you transmission is slipping. Changing trans fluid may help.

Have you changed the speed sensors on the transmission? Bad grounds will also give these electronics hell. Check all connections and grounds.

I have no idea what that means. How does the transmission and engine get out of sync? Are they not bolted together?

Any reason for this? four times on one sensor? After the second one it should have been obvious that you're just wasting money, you are not getting any closer to a solution.

If it is a pre-2005 chassis there is NOTHING electrical that can cause this. The only things that could cause it are low trans fluid, missing/damaged internal trans filter, or something mechanical that is broken inside the transmission.

From his other post:

2000 F53 Chassis (Southwind) experiencing an intermittent Overdrive Off light when idling or changing gears. Turning engine off and back on turns light off. Button on knob does not turn it off. Need help.

So he has a 2000 F53 chassis.

I think in this case, the OD light on is due to a trans code. Which I think he knows as I think that is what he is trying to describe when he says the engine and trans aren't in sync.

OP - what code are you seeing? Other posters are correct, could be as easy as low fluid. Could be much worse.....

Thanks Skip. It's a 2000 V-10 Triton. Had this problem intermittent for 3 years. Transmission speed is obtained by attaching a monitor to the output speed sensor on the transmission.

Subford....it is a 2000 Triton V-10. Transmission speed is obtained by attaching a monitor to the output speed sensor on the transmission. Transmission controls are all done by computer. Thanks.

GaTraveler. Thanks. I've replaced two of them but your input is great. I will do any remaining ones this week.
