i have a 1999 holiday rambler on a ford f 53 chassis.with 31,000 miles. last spring the transmission started to shift extremely hard like it was going to fall out. i took it to a reputible transmission shop and they replaced the prindle switch(that was the code) unfortunately that did not work. when we were travelling the next week i started to experience the same problem. and called the shop. they told me to turn off the chassis battery and it would re-set the computer. which it did and the transmission shifted silky smooth, like it used to. but i had to do that every 150 miles, otherwise it would shift really hard again. every time i turned off the chassis battery it worked fine. I say a post from NAUTIQUE about a new ground cable for the powertrain control module and was wondering if this is the same problem he had? or if any one else has experienced this problem. thanks for any help in this matter. bob novak

Hey kayjones.. please start a new thread with your question. Posting a new question in someone else's thread will more likely than not go answered and is considered bad form.

Bob: If you can, take it back and have them look at the solenoids (internal). Sounds like one of them is starting to stick. It could also be the Vehicle Speed Sensor (or whatever Ford calls it).. Have them actually troubleshoot it.

Also, did you mean they replaced the PRNDL switch? I dont see that causing hard shifts while driving..

Bob, if you're still having trouble, have the shop pull up Ford's TSB 02-11-03 that deals with erratic transmission shifting.

Good luck
