I had during my last trip the error code P1747. This indicates a wiring problem on the Electronic Pressure Valve (EPV), a solenoid in the transmission.
Since I was on the road, I had to ordered the parts in a UPS Store where i picked them for 5$.
1 - Connector
The wires on the harness going to the transmission going to the connector were damaged. So I ordered a new connector.
On ebay search for this:
(36995A, 99609, D76445EK, DTR 12, F75Z-14A411-AA, F75Z14A411AA, 76445EK, 36445EAK, FE-13, E40D) (harness, connector, 4R100, transmission, Ford)
This is a 12 connector pins on which only 9 are used. See an example
here.
On this connector, the pins 11 and 12 are for the EPV, EPC.
Here are
the instructions.
2 - Solenoid pack
I also changed the Solenoid Pack which includes the EPV solenoid. I was able to change it myself in the camground. Very easy to change but a bit messy so prepare yourself. You have to drain the transmission oil, then remove the Transmission oil cover, change the Solenoid Pack, also the transmission filter since you are there.
My old Solenoid Block to my surprise was F81P-7G391-BA. This is compatible with F7TZ-7G391-AA, F5TZ-7G391-A, 36420B, 36949A. It is a non-pwm. The name isDACCO 36949A Solenoid Block, E4OD, 4R100, 1995-Up.
BUT I had ordered a PWM one with a different part number. The part number is F81Z-7G391CB also called F81P-7G391-CC. But it did work and the motorhome was perfect for the next 2000 miles. I have ordered this part number because this is the number Rock-auto web site was showing.
I have bought mine on eBay. Here is the search sentence:
(F81Z-7G-391CB, F81Z-7G-391CC, F81P-7G-391CB, F81P-7G-391CC, 36949B, 36420D) (solenoid, 4r100, dacco)
I have paid 160$US including the filter and the gasket.
Here is the youtube video I have use.
3 - Transcommand Banks
I have a transcommand Banks installed. It is placed between the PCM and the EPV on the harness. So I suppose this P1747 could also be caused by a problem on the Transcommand Banks harness connector. So I changed the Transcommand banks connector. Since my problem is fixed I did not bypass the Transcommand Banks. But if the code P1747 comes back, then I will bypass the transcommand Banks by jumping the yellow wire to the orange one.
4 - PCM
If nothing solve for you this code, then the problem could come from the harness or the PCM.
