Transmission question
Sorry, this may be bumped to a better place and I don't know where to put it.
I have a 1987 Class B F250 Ford Intervec Falcon 190 with a 351W engine. It has 60,000 miles on it, and is a workhorse. And I've had problems with transmissions before. And transmission shops, some of whom seem to have folks drinking the fluid.
If this transmission, which I assume is the stock, standard transmission, goes out, what would be a good replacement? I have no idea if I would be better off sticking with the stock 3 speed auto or if there is a sturdy 4 speed which would fit easily. I don't know, and I don't like being at the mercy of the folks in the transmission shops I've visited. I KNOW a good one, great shop, it's just in Portland and I'm not a good part of the time.
Any suggestions along this line will be printed out and saved with the rest of the documents on this for when it is needed. And I'll appreciate it no end.
Thanks.
