Do you have a generator and is it fuel injected? Fuel injected generators need a return line.

Marque Gold 5500... itís carburetor with manual altitude adjustment...

No tank should be VENTED today, because of EPA, but also moisture condensate contamination, life has taught us better practices. VAPOR RECOVERY/ CHARCOAL CANISTERS are used. If recovery lines are intact, then possibly tank was changed and this was return line from a diesel GEN? Or same tank used for gas/ diesel, and a cap was lost in your application? Another consideration if fuel spill/ fire risk in vehicle roll-over? If you cannot find a line to connect, try capping it?
