Hi smeg99, Welcome ...Do a search here on V10 filter, there is a lot of information.
I would not use a K&N type filter. Stick with OEM.

I put one on my '02 Ford Winnebago Brave and the only thing I felt was a little lighter on the rear end.

2007. I noticed that the Ford price for an air filter is 1/2 of the NAPA price.

Go to Wally World and buy a OEM Ford Filter it should have the same air box as the F-series. My jamboree had a K&N Filter in it and I got rid of it seemed like it was starving for air.

I found the K&N air filter for the V-10 by crossreferencing to Ford 450. Fit perfectly. I, too, did not notice much, if any, difference with the upgrade(?)

Another problem that can happen using a KNN filter is if when cleaning and re-oiling it you happen to get a little to much oil on the filter. It will then foul the Mass Air Flow Sensor and you will have to buy a new one of those. I personally would not use one.

With over 35 years in the filter industry, I'll make the broad qualified statement that oiled foam air filter elements flow a lot of air but don't stop much contaminate.
Verifications abound.....browse this site:

And No, I'm not that Bob.

K&N does make a filter. Banks supplies them with their upgrade system.

Yes, they do. If all you want to do is stop rocks and bottle caps.
Back in my racing days I used K&N 'Green-Weenies'. Good for short-term performance but NOT for longevity. But, then again, I re-built my Husqvarna, Maico, Bultaco and Ossa engines 4 or 5 times a season using over-sized Weiseco pistons or rings every time until I had to buy new cylinders and start over the next year.
Not an ideal situation with the family cruiser or motorhome engines.
Use what you will.

A lot of old wives tales here.
MAF sensors can be cleaned with carb cleaner. You do not have to buy a new one.
A K&N is not a oiled foam air filter, it is oiled gauze.
We have been using them in our off-road SAND rails for decades without undue engine wear.
It will cost you more in the long run using OEM filters.

Just the facts, mam.
After 35 years using K&N oil gauze air filters, several hundred thousand miles on 20+ vehicles, and no engine damage or dust upstream of the filter, you will save $. Cheaper in the long run (no replacement) and I always get better MPG and throttle response.
