I read where all the diesel guys have found a sweet spot where their RV's run the best and the most economical. i.e. rpm vs speed etc.

Any suggestions on that "Sweet Spot" for the V-10.

As I ask this question I am looking out my window watching the snowplow go by pushing away 1 to 2 ft of white stuff, while my RV is under cover.

Come on February!! I'm ready to go south!!
I'll be ok it's just a little cabin fever, I have to go out and move some snow.

Joe from Ct.

After 15,000 miles, ours is in the 60-62 mph/2000 rpm area, whether towing or not. That's where we seem to get the best mpg.

I have to agree with NLOVNIT, his is about the same place I have found with two different V-10's. Another sweet spot is during idle. I have to look at my tach to tell if it is running.

Ours is also about 62 mph. Our version of the V10 puts out the maximum torque at about 2,700 rpm which just happens to be about 62 mph.

Our 2000 310hp v10 develops it's max torque at 3,250rpm and tachs around 2,600rpm at 60mph.

I agree with the others. The sweet spot seems to be around 58-62mph, and 2400-2600 rpm for my 2002 32V Suncruiser, 310hp, 6.8L V10. The cross over of the torque and horse power curves is right around 3100-3200rpm. On long hills I disengage the cruise and hold the rpms around the 3100 mark. The thought being is this is where the engine is making its maximum torque and I am not burning excessive fuel and needlessly stressing the engine and transmission to maintain a speed that will only get me to the top of the hill a minute or so sooner.
All this being said, I am currently waiting for the arrival of a Banks Powerpack System with Ottomind and Transcommand controller for my MH. I am hoping as long as I keep my driving habits the same, this should produce some fuel economies and reduce the annoying down shifting at the slightest hill.
