Hey Guys, 1995 Newmar Ford F53 vaccuum problem. (I think) Everything is fine when running on level at an even speed but when I start up a grade my air-conditioner goes off until I top the hill, then it comes back on. This just started doing this coming home from TX. I'm surely not the only one thats had this problem. Any ideas, suggestions, or any king of help would be appreciated. Thanks

Begin by sniffing around and replacing the small vacuum hoses that tend to crack where they connect to fittings. Perhaps the dry ends can be cut off and reattached if you have enough extra length.

When that happened to me it was the Cruise Control Solonoid

But any vacuum hose off can do it

At or near wot. the engine vac goes to near zero. For this reason a one way check valve is installed between the manifold and the heater cont. or vac reserve can "if equipped". A faulty check valve or any leak after the valve will cause this issue. A vac line, check valve or even a leaking heater vac pod may be the cause.

My '01 had a the same problem. Turn out that ford had a recall for too small a vac. reserve can. don't know what years it affected. for a '95 with no previous problem, I'd look for vac. leak.

They installed the larger vacuum cannister on our 2000 but I didn't see where it made that much of a difference. Sometimes I think a vacuum pump may be the answer. However if there's a leak in the system, even that wouldn't help.

Have a similar problem in which vacuum or lack of left the diverter door somewhere between floor and defrost. So ran gen (needed monthly exercise) and roof ac and didn't worry about since almost home. Of course, next day everything was fine. Will dig through and check vacuum lines. Oh boy, a project!!

Thanks to all for the suggestions. I found the problem. It was the vac line to the heater control valve. This also explained why my dash air wasn't cooling as it should. The heater control valve wasn't closing completely and was letting some hot water through. Problem solved. Thanks again
