I have a Damon 06 with the F-53 chassis and the Ford v-10. All DATA doesn't list the F-53. I have a problem with the heater not putting out heat. The blower works and it switches from floor to vents, but blows cold air. I was wondering if the schematics for the F-550 or 650 would be simular.

Thanks,
Ron

If you check with your coach manufacture I think you will find that the heater and air/con was installed by them and is not a Ford product. Most F-53 chassises come without heaters and only part of the air/con. National RV used Evans Tempcon.

Sounds like the infamous Evans valve, though they usually fail open so you can only get hot air (see Dash Air Conditioning putting out hot air).

Here's a link to service parts with pictures of their valves on their website, they have a tech support section also. You should be able to trace your heater hoses to a valve that looks like one of those http://www.evanstempcon.com/serviceparts.php.

A lot of times people have fixed the "heat only" problem by moving the temp control abruptly from cold to hot and back a few times.

I have been lucky enough to avoid this so far...

Good Luck,
Stewart

Stewart, thanks so much that is what I was looking for. First I'll check for a fuse. Seeing it is raining, I'll wait for dry weather to look closer and the control valve.

The closest Ford truck to the F-53 is the F-550 medium duty truck.

I don't have any idea if this applies to the F-53 chassis, but many Ford cars and trucks have a small electric motor with a gearset that positions a large plastic flap inside the ventilation box. Flap up and it forces the air thru the heater core giving hot air. Down it blocks the heater core and you get cold air with infinite adjustment inbetween. If the motor dies or the gearset strips out it could cause your problem.

Thats the GOOD problem. The other possibility is the plastic flap has broken (this has happened on my wife's '99 Windstar van). The official fix is to replace the entire heater box assembly as the flap is buried inside the sealed box. It may be possible to cut open an access hole in the box, epoxy the broken flap back together and glue the heater box back together - thats what I did for the van.

Hopefully your flap is intact and it is actually a simpler problem.

My control valve is made by CEI. I tried it again on the way home and it must have gotten un stuck. Seems to be workning now, but it is nice to know all the good information from you all.

Thanks,
Ron
