What octane gas is recommended for the triton V10 ?
Did not have owners manuals when I bought my 2000 year hurricane by four winds used last year. It is built upon the ford F53 chassis and has the Triton V10 engine. This is the older Triton V10 made in year 2000. The new Triton engines are 362 HP but mine is the older one that I believe is 300HP.
Does anyone now what octane gas Ford Reccomends for the older V10 engine ?
It may NOT be premium because I have a 2001 Chrysler Concorde automobile and the owners manual for that car specifically states NOT to use anything above 89.

The owner's manual for our 2000 coach with the v10 specifies 87 octane. Been using 87 octane in ours now for 13 years with no problems.

Was it 2000 year or 2001, that Ford replaced the cylinder heads on the V10 & upped the HP to 310.
If your 2000 is an early in the year model, it may just be 275 HP, but its probably the 310.
We have a 99 V10 & been mostly using 87.
Sometimes in the real hot summer time & driving in the day time heat, I'll fill up with 89 & then non ethanol any time I can find any.

Our 2013 F53 chassis has the octane requirement printed on the gas cap. I only noticed it when I saw the warning NO E-85/No E-20

My '01 calls for 87. I tried the lower octane they call "regular" at higher elevations and it made the engine struggle on the climbs at those higher elevations. As the gasoline engine loses 4% power for every 1,000 feet anyway, it made a lot of difference. If I'm going to stay high for a while, I will go with 88 or 89 octane, other than that I stick with the 87.
My sister had an '89 Cadillac that she put 91 octane because she thought it was better because "it was a Cadillac after all." I showed her in the manual where it said to use 87, and if it had to have higher octane to run better, there was a problem with the engine. I don't think she changed, but hey, it was her money she was wasting!
OBTW, mine is rated at 310 HP.

Our '99, first generation V10 has run on 87 since day one. One time I had to use 85, so I just put in enough to get out of the area and topped off with 89 down the road. It ran fine, but I'm sure I was in higher altitudes.

I've owned two V-10s and echo the 87 octane.

X2 on the 87 octane. Here in the high desert its hard to find, most stations have 86 octane only in the regular.

86 is fine above 5000 ft.

also remember that these engines have knock sensors. So if the fuel is not sufficient, the PCM will retard the timing to prevent spark knock. However, as everyone posted, 87 octane from a gas station that see's a lot of traffic will be just fine.
