What V10?

I am looking at a used Damon Daybreak Motorhome. The Model Year is 2006, but the chassis is a 2005. It is equipped with the Torqshift 5R110 transmission.

My question: is the V10 the 310 or 362 hp motor? Is there any way of telling visually?

Welcome to irv2. Good question. It was around that time that the 362 came out. I had an 08 on a 07 chassis and it was the 362. Someone should be along shortly with an exact answer. They may need the VIN #.

I had a 2002 V10 with the 310HP and had no problem with performance, obviously a 362HP would be better. If you really like the coach I would go for it unless you plan on spending a lot of time going up mountains.

What V10?

I traveled ( in an 01 v10 310 H.P. ) to 49 States and all 10 Canadian Provinces and the Yukon Territory covering 62,000 miles and would not hesitate to recommend it for any type of driving. It never failed me and handled everything I threw at it.

Glad you're aboard. I see you have many helpers already and I'm not too well versed in the V10's. Best of luck on finding the answer. Enjoy your adventures and be safe.

According to Wikipedia, these are the specs on the 2005 and later Ford V10. Motorhomes are listed as F550 chassis.

If you know you have the torqshift 5 transmission (shifter will say Tow/Haul) you have the 3 valve 362HP V10. If you have the 4 speed 4R100 (shifter will say OD OFF) you have the 2 valve 310HP V10

The 3 valve V10 was first built late in 2004 for the 2005 model trucks. Both the 2 valve and the 3 valve engines were available in the 2005 model year. The 2 valve version was available in either 305 hp or 310 hp depending on which chassis it was installed in.The 3 valve engine was slightly different than today’s version in that it only had 355 hp with 455 ft. lbs. of torque.According to Ford this engine was never put in the F53. motorhome chassis.

Some of the confusion centers around the fact that Ford did not make a 2005 model year F53 chassis. According to Ford they ran the 2004 chassis until the end of February 2005 then went to the 2006 model starting March 1 2005. The 2006 model F53 chassis included the 3 valve per cylinder 362 hp version of the V10 and the R5110W 5 speed transmission with tow/haul mode.

Here's a link to the specifications pages:
https://www.fleet.ford.com/truckbbas/topics/techspec.html

Here's a link to the 2006 model year chassis manual:
https://www.fleet.ford.com/truckbbas...essd_06mhc.pdf

This is a note from page 2 of the 2006 body builders manual:
• F53 Class A Motorhome Chassis 2005 program cancelled and redesignated to a 2006 program (Job#1 1/3/05). 2004 model will extend until the introduction of the 2006 model (Refer to 2004 Specifications for information) (TY3-ES-10009).
