Wheel Air Pressure Rating F53 pre 1998

Anyone know the pressure rating for the 1987/97 16 inch wheels. I just read a post about Cooper having the 235/85r16 in 10ply, and had also seen Toyo with the same product.

The Toyo rated the tire at 120 psi.

The tire rating is "E".
Tire pressure max is 80psi.

Good thing to know. It should be stamped on the spare wheel (easy to see) also. My 2001 is stamped 115 (that's cold) but that's a 19.5 wheel. My xze tires are max load pressure at 120. I keep them at 110.
Good luck

Guess I expected the rim rating to be something higher than a tire rating. Toyo rates the "E" tire at 80 psi. So all 16" wheels are limited to 80? Are the Ford wheels stamped as such 80#?

What's the advantages (or disadvantages) of running them up to just below max cold pressure? I've always done it just because I am lazy. ||

I run mine @ 65lbs. Anything more and you'll shake the fillings out of your teeth and the dashboard will probably come down in your lap. These F 53 chassis are rough ridin as hell. (not enough weight as in a diesel)

Note that low air pressure is what makes the tire blow out after over heating.

1997 F-53/460 - 1998 coach; I run 70 (cold) in the front, and 65 in the rear. (no tag) Check your weight, then run what the tire manufacturer says for that given weight. I would rather be too high than too low !!

Balance the tires, get good shocks, and it will run smooth!
