Thanks James.. But where is it? Top, side, bottom. I don't know where the throttle body is either!
Can I reach it from the ground? Do I have to pull the dog house?

Are you sure you have a V10?
Your signature says 1998 F53.
What is your VIN without the last 4 numbers?
Are you working a 1999 F53 for someone else?
Ford did not make a 1998 F53. I know some body builders used the 1999 F53 on their late 1998 homes and some used 1997 F53 on the early 1998 homes.

The IAC is located at the top right side of engine, location A7 in the diagram below.
Do not know the layout of your Motorhome so can not tell you if you need to take the doghouse off or not but would guess you would have too.

James, fair question. This year, I'll be putting several thousand miles on my older MH with 70K on it now. I'm considering carrying one of these on board as I observed on Ford Truck forum that this was a problem part. I've done trans flush, fuel filter, belt and hose inspection show no earthly reason for replacement, but I've got a belt on board. Brakes are around 50%, but I will replace fluid. Also plan to flush/replace coolant. Rear sway bar bushings shot. Have new poly bushings on order.

They have been known to need replacement from time to time. The easiest way to determine you have one sticking is if the engine starts and dies right away. If you hold just some slight throttle pressure and it remains running, the IAC is likely sticking. I have cleaned many of them using brake cleaner and that's all that it took. You can even do that as a preventative maintenance item.

Thanks James. My engine has displayed that symptom twice recently. Once after a long drive (warm engine) this past March. Engine would not idle but I could easily keep it running with slight peddle. Ran smooth otherwise. Then last week when I started it up for the first time since (cold engine) same thing. Drove it around for 50 or so miles. Starting stopping, idling just fine. Problem stopped.

James, I have a can of gum out carb cleaner. Will that do as good a job as brake cleaner?
