Who uses the tow haul button or not?
Who uses the tow haul button with their gasser when towing. I don't like it and choose not to use that function.... is that a good or bad thing...or does it really matter?

It's your choice. It changes the shift pattern to give you more power up hill and helps you slow down downhill. I used it anytime I was driving in city traffic to give me more stopping power. It's a tool to use or not as you see fit.

We always use it. Our RAM handbook advises it.

It all depends on what and where you're towing. We always tow our 2004 Jeep Wrangler that weighs in at a little over 3,700 lbs. We don't use it as a general rule unless we're in hilly or mountainous country. I do use it when exiting the interstates just to let the transmission do some of the braking.
I think you'll find in hilly country it will help keep the transmission from doing radical downshifting. Sometimes with it off we find the engine lugs to the point the transmission shifts down 2 gears. With it on the transmission will downshift 1 gear a little sooner, but be able to hold the speed without shifting down a second gear.
Also it provides engine braking when going down long hills or mountains. It's a lot easier to maintain a relatively constant speed, and you need to apply the service brake far less often.
All I all I like to have the feature available when it's needed, but only use it when I feel it will benefit the performance.

When towing I use it all the time. Less wear and tear on the brakes and drive train. Better shift positions. But I have the 5 star tune.

I used to use it much more before I confirmed with Ford that it reduces gas mileage by as much as 1 MPG.

I always use mine. MHs are usually at the GVWR all the time, so it's the definition of "tow/haul". More importantly, I use it for engine braking. One tap on the brake pedal, downshift one gear. Tap twice, drop two gears. It's as effective as an engine brake on a diesel.

Use it down hill, downshifts when touching the brakes

We use it when towing up and down if there's steep hills. Works pretty good.

If memory servers me correctly, you are suppose to use Tow/Haul mode when you are greater than 70% of GVWR. So with most gassers you should be in T/H all the time. T/H does two things, one it changes the transmission shift points to increase power and braking. Two, it applies more pressure to the torque converter minimizing slippage and reducing heat build up.

Tow/haul alters shift points and also electronicslly firms up gear changes. These are both good things if you care about your transmissions life.

It's there for a reason.
I use it on my 2011 F-150, Use cruise on flats.
Going downhill, tap brake & it shifts down.
Again, it's three for a reason.
