Your favorite grease gun?
For you diy people, which grease gun do you use? More specifically for the F53 chassis.

I have a Lincoln 12volt and a hand pump alemite grease gun. I have added 3ft high quality hoses to both guns. I service a small fleet of heavy equipment so the battery model is sure handy . For just 1 or2 vehicles, the hand pump works just fine.

I have a standard ole el-cheepo hand pump gun with a 1 ft long flex hose on the end.
It gets used once or twice a year, then I put it in a big plastic bad so I don't get grease on everything.

Probably 25 years ago or more, I bought a el cheapo air operated grease gun. I started to buy a expensive one, but was in a store and saw this one. It is a wel-built and has lasted this long, so I will buy another el cheapo if it goes bad.

Buy a Lincoln hand grease gun! Cheap ones don't cut it!
Then add LockNLube Grease Coupler to end a lot of frustration!

Mine is black and came from Harbor Freight. The grease in it probably cost more than the gun but it works every time. The company that made it seems to have left their name off of it but I probably couldn't pronounce it anyway.

The Lincoln 1162 is the best grease gun I've ever owned and believe me I've tried a lot of them.

I have a few but no real difference. Most important is to have a selection of nozzles to snap on...one with a right angle (most used), one with a soft whip, a needle injector for lubing joints that have no zerk fitting.

I use one with a pistol grip which frees up the other hand to hold the hose on the grease zerk.

Lincoln 1162 on order....thx for the heads up.
Now the big argument may begin.... your preference on the grease itself?
Steve

Steve,
The tip on the Lincoln gun seems to hold fairly well. So far I've not had any issues with it not staying snug enough to the zerk and grease goes in. I don't think I'll need a $30 locking grease end for my gun. Yes stubborn king pins can be difficult but so far if it's not been neglected then it should stay tight enough to work.
I've not read anything bad about synthetic lubricants. They exceed all the temperature requirements of standard greases so for a few bucks more why not use the absolute best????? I've been using Amsoil Synthetic Polymeric Heavy Duty . Off Road EP 5% Moly NLG1#1 . I think it's about $8 a tube and that's at least 1 or 2 years of grease.
There may be some worse and some better but this works for me. There's an Amsoil wheel bearing grease that is real good. It's about $12 a tube and it's what I'll use for front wheel bearings but that's a few years down the road.
