02 Monaco Dynasty Front axle ride height problems

Bringing home our new to us coach and started to notice a shimmy. After looking at the coach I saw that the front was higher than it should be, I measured the bags on the front axle and found the the two front bags at 9 inches but the rear bags close to 10 inches. This is obviously throwing the the camber off and causing the shimmy and the tires to cup.

Why would the rear bags on the steer axle have more height than than the front bags? By the way.... The drive axle and tag are at nine inches

Here is the ride height posted on the Monacoers Parts List

Dynasty
93 9 1/2" front ; 9 1/2" rear
94 9 1/2" front ; 11" rear
no tag 00 - 01 9 1/2" front ; 11" rear
with tag 02 - 03 9 1/2" front ; 11" rear Tag 9" front; 9" rear
04 - 06 9" front ; 9" rear

There should be a section in your manual discussing ride height and how to check an adjust.

The ride height in controlled by 1 valve on the front and 2 valves on the rear. Each valve is controlled by an arm with an adjusting rod fixed to the frame. make sure all the rods are present.

If you have a tag axle both the front and back should be 9"
If you don't have a tag it shows 9.5 front and 11" rear.

Yep, but it didnt help me much. Said from bottom of top airbag to top of bottom bag. Well, thats about 2.5 inches on mine - nothing like 8+.. I guess I will take a pic with a tape measure beside.

As mentioned I do have a tag axle.. And I've checked the ride height on all bags, the measurements are 9" all around except for the rear two bags on the front axle.

My question is has anybody seen this.....and anyone know how to deal with it. The front axle rides on a carriage which is supported by the four bags on each corner, they are controlled by one ride height control. Wrong bags on the front or back of the axle maybe???

Can someone give me the Monaco support number?

REv RV group - in Alvarado 800-299-1158
Monaco 800 support - 800-509-3417

And no, I have never heard of having different measurements for the airbags on each corner. In fact, the manual says they should be the same - only front and rear are to be different.

You have a solid rear axle with king pins where camber is only adjustable by actually bending the axle itself. The air bag heights have no bearing on camber. Camber also doesn't cup tires. See the attached picture for camber tire wear.

Yeah. Shouldn't try to explain things before I've had my coffee. I meant caster, positive caster which is what lifting the rear of the support carriage is doing, causes shimmy, hard steering and can cause irregular tread wear because of the shimmy.

Any hoo... I'll call Monaco support and see what they have to say

Thanks guys
Bill

The Monaco Rep made a good point about the cupping....Goodyear Tires have a history of irregular wear.

Steve, I believe you are talking about the front axle, not the rear, with the king pins.

No jimmy it's from the bottom of the top plate to the top of the bottom plate and I'm not sure what year this air bag measurement started and neither is Monaco if you pin them down but I think around 03, but I am sure that our 2000 Dynasty uses the bottom of the main frame to the top of the H frame for the measurement and all coaches before. The way I checked is my coach will not air high enough on the rear air bag to get the measurement on plate to plate and would be way to high ( like a praying minus ) and a high drive shaft angle.
