Coming home last week my charging/alt light comes on but the volt guage reads fine. When I get home I remove the alt. and take it to be tested at a local shop.He tells me there is a diode out and I need a new alternator.I buy it and replace it but the light and bell in the dash will not go out.Any idea's how to fix this would be great. Thanks

I have a 99 Windsor and my isolator is located on curb side at the back behind a large door with my cutoff switches it is blue with a black center, the blue has fins and is made out of aluminum. The black part came off when I removed it and looked burnt.

I'm sure you have an isolator or when you dry camp the battery for starting the engine would run down with the coach batteries. It's located in the rear of the coach and has large wires most likely red going to and from it. I bought mine for less than 100.00 on line, if you want I can look up were. If this is not helping try posting on the Monaco owners forum there is a lot more action and some real smart guys. Also a call to Monaco tech line and they can tell you were your isolator is located.

Corcon, there is a relay in your front run bay (basement compartment under the driver's window) that turns the light on or off. If the alternator fails the relay turns the light on. If the relay fail, it can also turn the light on. This Alt-fail relay looks like the standard Bosch relay, but it is not the same. It is made by Hamsar in Canada and the only source I know of is Monaco. It may have Hamsar marked on it. The relay has additional components other than contacts inside and is potted. If you also have Day Time Running Lights, there will also be a Hamsar relay for that but the socket it is connected should be marked DRL.

Find the Hamsar relay and remove, then check the alternator light. If it is out, put the relay back in and if the light comes back on, replace the relay.

You said you replaced the alternator and the problem is still there and that your volt meter is registering correctly. If it shows more than 13.4 volts with the engine running, I would agree with you, but make sure it reads more than just the battery voltage with the engine turned off.

Could be reading the battery voltage not the alternator output, in the battery storage bay on the right side wall is a rectangular electrical plug about 2.5 inches by a half inch near the disconnect. Un plug the plug and inside the plug is a mini fuse, Check the fuse. I have had a fuse fail and would get the warning light on the dash.

A good point. Read the voltage without the motor running and then read it with the motor running. If they are the same then you are reading just battery voltage.
