Alternator Failed

While travelling through Montana yesterday our dash battery warning light came on. When checking the Alladin system it became clear the alternator had stopped charging. Fortunately we were only 15 miles from a Cummins service center. We had them change the alternator and back on the road we went 3 hours later. We happened to receive a spare alternator when we purchased our coach however, no where can I find a make or part number. Does anyone know what the make and part number for this should be? It did say 270 AMP on the unit.

You don't say the year or model of coach and from your logo I assume a Holiday Rambler. Since it's a 270 amp you must have an all electric coach as Monaco used 200 amp alternators for most other application. If your alternator is OEM then it should be a Leese Neville. These are premium units and you should be able to have the one they took off rebuilt for a couple of hundred dollars. Then you will have a "good as new" spare.

Thanks Steve for your recommendation. I did forget to say it was a 2004 HR Navigator, all electric with a Cummins ISM.

I will take a look into the Leese Neville alternators next week and begin working on getting the spare. Most likely I will never need it once it's on board.

Just had mine rebuilt. It is a prescolite made by leason and i had mine rebuilt for a wopping 122.00. Beats the you know what out of over 760.00 for a rebuilt from napa or over 990.00 for new. My rebuilder said they had a rash of bad voltage regulators. He replaced the field regulator ,brushes and both bearings for 122.00.

That's a Leece Neville alternator. Leece Neville is a brand name of the Prestolite Corporation.

Thanks everyone for your input, it was a Leece Neville and I was able to get it rebuilt at home. The cost of the rebuild was $488 bucks. I once again have a working spare, most likely will never need it.
