Chassis Failure

Limped into Rocky Mountain RV in Albuquerque with table that rear axle rides on slipped back about 4 inches and rubbing tires on body. The connection to the main frame just forward of the axle failed. Still don't know why as just happened . Anyone ever heard of this happening before? It is a 2006 Monaco Cayman 36ft SBT

I've never had that problem, But I can tell you I've had really good experience's with Rocky Mountain. They have treated me very well on the few occasions I've had to trade with them.

Bought my coach there and think Bob Franklin is a great service manager. I've had lots of problems with 2006 Cayman. He has come to the rescue every time I've asked for help.

The R4R chassis had a big problem with the rear trailing arms I believe from previous discussions. Does this sound like what the OP is describing? A search should give more info.

A search showed this has been a Freightliner problem for many years. I guess I'm lucky we didn't have a much worse problem. Thanks for the lead to search for info.

Sure sounds like a trailing arm failure. Or a very poor trailing are repair after previously failing.

See attached PDF file.

You don't have a Freightliner chassis you have an R4R Roadmaster chassis with a well known issue. Here is the fix:

Let us know what Rocky Mountain RV had found and what their solution was to your problem.

Thanks.

Sounds kinda scary, but my question is: Why is this on the Freightliner Forum?

To answer your question, the location of this thread was determined by the OP.

I inspected my 2002 Monaco Knight and found I have an RM4C chassis, I feel fortunate my trailing arms ect are not part of the problem now I can worry about other things.
