Front brakes

2002 Holiday Rambler Endeavor needs front lining and front drums. They are severely heat cracked and need replacement. The shop quoted me 700 per drum. Are there other outlets to purchase these parts. Thanks

Is this an RV shop or truck shop? There should be truck shops in the Jax area that are brake specialists.

700 per drum? Just the drum? I say that is outrageous. Get another quote, quickly.

You are being held up!! Run, don't walk from there!!! Unless the shoes are worn to less than 1/4" or have other issues like cracks in the friction they are ok. And the drums will have surface cracks that aren't dangerous unless the drum is fully cracked through.

As a diesel mechanic I am speaking from experience. Your brakes should be standard outboards and a top of the line centerfuse drums are several hundred at best. Shoes are like $40 each plus a hardware kit. Labor at any major shop is like 1.2hrs per corner.

Come to Hillsboro Oregon and I personally will replace your brakes as I listed above. Those kind of prices you were quoted are criminal IMHO.

Mark, if you are in Jacksonville contact the NAPA on Beaver St. They specialize in big truck parts. Rotors for my 2003 Cayman were $100.00 each. Message me should they have what your looking for .
