Good evening,
Went camping with the kids and grandkids this past week end at Canal campground on the Northern tip of Lake Barkley in Kentucky.
Today on the way back home made arrangements to have Duckett's truck center check the ride height.
They found the ride height was all over the place, one of the fronts at 4 inches and something and the back at 7 something. They adjusted according to Monaco specs, 6.5 in the front and 8 inches for the back. It seems to me on the ride home of about 100 miles that the motorhome did ride better. Seemed to have more of that cushioned glide to it. I'm not sure what caused the ride height to change since we bought it almost three years ago but am hoping that this will improve the overall ride quality as it was pretty rough on a recent return trip from Washington DC.
Guess I learned that it can be off pretty far eventhough the motorhome looked to be level.
I want to commend Mr. Hoots and Duckett truck center for working me in on a short notice, doing a professional job and just being very nice to deal with. I would be more then happy to have them do any work on the motorhome if in the area.
Letsgoagain

If you drive a lot, check it every 4-6 months. If you seldom use it, once a year is good.
They can go out of adjustment but the procedure is fairly simple. Don't forget to check and adjust your tire inflation to the proper pressure for your load at each wheel on each axle.
That reminds me of something I need to do....

How long should it take a shop to check and adjust, if necessary?

Bob Russo,
I had mine done a few weeks ago while the Dip was in the shop for the wiper recall. I dropped it off in the morning and picked it up in the afternoon so cannot tell you for sure how long it took. They charged me for one hour of labor but my guess is they did the adjustment in much less time.

Bob Russo,
I think nodine is about right. The place I had it checked and adjusted charged me one hours labor rate. They had it done sooner so it has to be a fairly easy procedure although I still don't like the idea of being under there while your adjusting the height up and down.

Not having done it before or actually seeing it done, I'm not comfortable in adjusting it either.
Talked with Monaco tech support, yesterday and today, to verify measurements and the procedure to check the ride height. Was told both times all 07 Neptunes are 6 15/16" front and 8 1/2" rear. I'm not a mechanic but knowing how tire psi affects the ride, I was somewhat surprised coach serial # and/or floorplan was irrelevant.
I'm hoping to get to the August International Rally and while there have the ride height checked. Even if I have to pay for it, the peace of mind will be worth it.

Bob,
You're wise in not being comfortable adjusting the ride height. Even though I set the leveling jacks down to about 1/2" from touching the concrete I was still a little nervous. I think next time I will have someone else do it. It is pretty congested under the rear of the coach and if something went south you would pretty much toast or at least trapped.

Mark,
That's my feelings precisely. Adjusting the ride hight is not a complicated procedure and for those who know exactly what they're doing, it may be no big deal at all. But it's not something I want to "learn by experience" for the reasons you mention. In addition, the adjustment for the front is in the center of the chassis where you have to crawl completely under the coach - not a place I'd like to be if the airbags start to deflate.
