Help with new tire size for RR8R chassis

Need a little bit of help here...I have a Holiday Rambler Endeavor 2006 sitting on the RR8R chassis and it is time to change out the tires.

One big question remains.

It appears that the OEM 275 80R 22.5 is made by only a few tire companies (Goodyear and Michelin I know for sure) and that other tire companies (e.g. Bridgestone, Toyo, Hankook, etc....) do not make this size.

So, after measuring the clearance needed to go with a larger tire (definitely do not want to go smaller) I notice that the 295 80R 22.5 will fit 1" wider between the duallies in the back (1/2" on each side of each tire) and will therefore cause a problem (as there is only 1 inch to spare at the moment).

So, have any of you RR8R chassis owners (Endeavor, Diplomat, etc...) changed out your OEM tires to a larger size and, if so, what size and what brand?

I think both Goodyear and Michelin are too high priced for me and I will be content with the lower price (and not lower quality) Bridgestone or some other equivalent tire.

Thanks for any help and/or advice

Hello Chef Guy,

One of the first things that I did when I bought my 2008 HR Endeavor last year was to buy new tires... I replaced the 275/80/22.5 Goodyears with 295/75/22.5 Toyo M147 steers and Toyo M154 drivers (rear).
The Toyos are about the same diameter as the Goodyears and are slightly wider. I still have plenty of room between the rear duals.
I cannot tell you how much better the rig drives with the Toyos over the previous Goodyears. Also the 295/75/22.5 size is more readily available and is somewhat less expensive (depending on brand). I don't know of an inexpensive Michelin in a size to fit our rigs.
Good luck! Brian.

Toyo tires are fantastic. I have them on my Monaco Diplomat, my Toyota Land cruiser, and my Dodge diesel.

Chef Guy,

I'm not a good year fan for the RV (at least not mine). Serious rivering and pre-mature ware, and finally a blow out made me change. If you're a member of FMCA they have a great program on Michelins. The Bridgestones are excellent tires as well. I have the 295/80R22.5. As long as the steers clear, and you have enough room between the dual's, you should be able to get the bigger tires.
