Generally yes.. However how I can't tell you.. A lot depends on the type of steering but if you have recirculating ball there is usually an adjustment. An Alignment shop can help you.

Also, you may have wear on the tie rods or other parts which the alignment shop can detect.

Finally you can add a stablizer such as the Blue Ox True Center (which I use) or the Safe-t-steer (to name just two brands) these seem to help..

I will say I did not notice the difference pulling out of the dealer, but with the blue ox you can push a button from the driver's seat to "Re-center" it.

Ever watch those TV shows or movies where the pilot gets sick so some novice pilot takes over to land the plane and when they disengage the auto pilot he almost looses it..... Yup.. Pushed that button (you are not supposed to push it when in motion) and it was dang near that dramatic.

Patadamson, your chassis is the same as mine and that steering should not be loose. That front axle and tie rods is a Dana Slicer unit and is the same that is used on tour buses and 18 wheeler trucks. You should take it into somewhere like Freightliner and have an expert look at everything and make sure it is OK. I have found that you do not need a steering stabilizer on that chassis when all is correct. Putting a steering stabilizer on it to fix the problem would be covering up a problem.

A couple of things to check is the tax axle air bag pressure regulator in the engine compartment and make sure it is set at 30-40 lbs. I run mine at 40 lbs so it puts weight on the front tires for better handling. The other thing is you should have about 110 lbs in the front tires, 100-105 lbs in the drive tires and 80-85 lbs in the tag tires. If you have all that and it still is loose in steering then take it in and get it checked. I can drive my 44 ft Signature with one hand lightly on the wheel and it tracks great.

I completely agree with Mike, my 06 Patriot Thunder is easier to drive then my Suburban (although it is a little sloppier than my Lincoln LS or Volvo XC).

Stabilizers are common on some of the other chassis such as the Workhorse that wa8yxm has, but I don't know of anyone using one on the big Roadmaster.
