Dropping that much pressure in six hours is a substantial leak that should show up readily with soapy water.

Happycarz,
Found a leak comming from the ball valve located on the underside of front air tank and also another leak from what appears to be a regulator on the side of the tank (ie LP regulator type). Can these leaks be causing the rear of the coach to lose pressure?

I will start on the grid heaters next. Too dark outside for being below coach.

If you ever make it to Louisiana, look me up so I can shake your hand for all the timesaving information you gave to a new (to me) Monaco Coach.
Thanks
Doghouse

You should be able to buy a new ball valve from a truck parts store. Just ask an area truck repair shop where you can find a truck parts store. The regulator looking thing should be a pressure protection valve (PPV for short.) It shuts the air supply to the accessory items at 60 psi, leaving the remaining air for the brakes. On some coaches the front tank fed the rear tank. So, replace those two items and see how it holds pressure.
On the grid heaters, you should be able to lift the bed and hatch cover and see them from the top.

Got to the engine and found an inlet in the side of the block under the intake manifold wired to a 110 plug. Also found two other plugs both with wires one leading to a small water tank at radiator fill, the other I am trying to trace. Appears to go to side of firewall where (3)30amp square fuses or located, any help?

thanks

The 110 plug is a block heater.
I was looking on the web for a picture of the 8.3 grid heater, but had no luck. I haven't had my 93 Dynasty since 99 and I'm trying to remember the layout. I could tell you about my 99 or current one, but not the 93. On the highest part of the timing cover look for the engine tag. If you were above the engine looking down it would be on the horizontal part of the engine that the timing cover bolts to, highest point. It is black metal label with white or etched markings.
It includes all the engine data including the CPL. If you can find it and read it (it might be covered with grime) call Cummins with CPL and ask the about the grid heater to make sure it has one. I'm pretty sure it does.
Also, when reading the tag from the rear of the coach, it will be backwards. If you were able to lay on the engine from the bedroom toward the rear, which there isn't enough room, you would be reading it right side up. The best is using a digital camera for getting this info.

Thank you, I'll keep you posted on both the air and the grid heater projects.

Changed the relief valve on the front air tank. Now it will drop about 10 to 15 psi per day. I guess I will replace the PPV next. Also found out that the 1992 I have does not have a grid heater, but by using the plug in block heater prior to starting helps alot.

Thanks

Scotty

I'm glad to hear that you are making progress. It doesn't matter if the motorhome is 20 years old or new, it is still "a work in progress."

Yes indeed.
Every man needs something to tinker with.
I will be starting on the exterior of the coach soon. Do you know where I may find information on the construction methods used by Monaco to attach the fiberglass skin to the Mono chassis?
Thanks
