Medicare Part D

Does any RV traveler have a particular Part D that is especially workable while on the road. We are presently using Express Scripts with problems and we haven't even hit the road yet. Your thoughts will be appreciated.

United Healthcare. Use Walgreens everywhere.

Part D was on our list for consideration. We opted for an Advantage supplemental plan via United Health Care. Like you, we had Express Scripts (prior to age 65 in my case). They were very difficult to deal with, continually denying our claims, and always requesting re-verification through our doctors office. It got to the point where our doctors office was not responding or slow responding and we had a tough time getting our meds refilled.

United Advantage has been just OK with only a few problems. We have been able to get our scripts refilled on the road at towns that have a CVS, although it has taken hours a few times.

Advantage plans definitely cost a bit more... but there is no such thing as inexpensive supplemental health insurance in the US for seniors.

I have Part D through Walmart. They recently switched to Humana as the provider. Monthly cost is reasonable and meds can be filled/refilled at any Walmart or Sam's Club. Works well for me as a fulltimer. I refill on line then change pickup to store near where I am at the time.

Don't confuse Medicare Part D with the supplements like Walgreens and Humana. They are not the same. I did that and now have to pay a lifetime monthly penalty for not signing up for Part D coverage in time.

My Part D through Walmart is just a part D for prescriptions only. I have a different policy with a different company for my Medicare supplement insurance.

Yup, insured under the Wife's employer for now then will have to get the Part D for both of us when she retires in 2 years..... I just hope that the Gov doesn't change horses (again!) before then..

For Clarification, this is a Part D program, as asked by the OP - not a Medicare Part C / Advantage program.

We have Silver Scripts as Part D and get our scripts at Walgreens. Going on 6 months on the road with no major issues.
