Well load up and go next summer to get away from summer the heat. JMO July and August are the best months, but be prepared for cool and rainy weather, but if no rain it gets dusty. If I was a first timer to Co. I'd say go to Taylor Park and dry camp. There is a store there that lets you fill your tanks for tip jar and a dump station up the road. There is also a rv cg by the store if you don't want to dry camp. There is plenty of old cabins to see and trails to ride, from TP north all way to Aspen, (Aspen trail rough but doable and beautiful) and south to Pitkin with Tin Cup and St Elmo in the middle. Real gas is available at TP store and ethanol at Pitkin. However, with all that been said, the wife would probably like Silverton/Lake City area and the Alpine loop better for the shopping and diners and as I said earlier in a post, you can ride into both towns. The only problem with Silverton is if you don't have a vehicle you can't get to the gas station (only ethanol). This area has a Great ghost town named Animas Fork to visit and lots of old mines, and Old One Hundred Mine has tours. We did see some bears this year in both areas and some moose, elk and deer!

Yes Taylor park area is hard to beat. Cottonwood pass will be closed summer of 2017. They will be paving it from top of pass down into taylor park. Will be nice when it's all finished. We actually trailer to st Elmo's or over monarch pass to Sargent and then north to a little town of white pine. From either place we have access to the intire Taylor park area. We also ride the Buena vista area along with trails south of poncha springs.

We haul around a couple of mini-buggies among other toys in our enclosed trailer. We used to stack the front ends in a toy hauler, but using a dedicated trailer is much easier.

We love our UTV. We are headed to Moab in March and of to hunt next week. We are moving from a TT to a 40 ft 5th wheel. Due to length restrictions, we are having an aluminum trailer (with 6" to spare) built to pull behind our setup.

Be careful where you plan to tow doubles. There are some states where they are not allowed in any combination.
