Very cool...I don't have the cash (yet )for a macro lens so I love these kinds of homemade deals. I've been using extension tubes for the past year and really like them. It takes a bit of patience & skill to focus using them, but they can produce really nice results.
This is w/ a regular 50mm lens & extention tube :

Take it from someone who shoots exclusively with a macro lens, the focusing skill is always a challenge. Mine has autofocus, but you use that feature and it's always focusing on the wrong thing Mine is never off manual focus.

Old Hotel in Denison Texas
Triva: Denison is the Home Town & Birth Place of Dwight Eisenhower. This old hotel sits next to the now retired railroad station. I bet many a weary travler has graced its doorway.

In bishop ca we have several tv photo events. Deathvalley, bodie, bristlecone forest (4000 year old living trees) etc during year. Easternsierra photographers web site has dates and places
