Any photographers out there?

I'm a serious hack, or an avid amateur, just don't call me late for dinner.

Anyhow, I do take it fairly seriously, just don't get to do enough of it. My favorites are nature/landscapes, and still life although the still life part needs a lot more work.

Here's a few of my better shots, feel free to post your own. I'm always up for an improvement opportunity.

My girls, Wife on the right and Stepdaughter on the left. Aren't they pretty?

Your nature shots are way beyond great! Loved 'em.
Your setups pull the viewer's eye into the distant center of each shot. Really nice.

What kind of camera are you using, or would you like to have, as far as digital SLR or film?
I mixed chemistry for years, fixer/developer, and the last couple years have been seeing some really fancy looking dig camers with nice lenses. Never picked one up though.

I'm using a Canon XSi DSLR with 17-85 f4.5, 100mm Macro f2.8, and 70-200 2.8L Canon lenses. I started out with a Fuji Finepix S7000 that actually takes better snapshots than the Canon. Once you turn the knob to manual though it's all over for the Fuji.

Thanks for the compliments, I'm been working on composition since that's as important as exposure, kinda nailed it with those shots. Now I just need to get consistant!

The Alaska shots are really god, you should post some of them.

There's a few ways, but I use Smugmug.com to host my photos online, right click on the medium image, click properties, copy the address, highlight and copy.

Then come here, and in a reply box you'll see the image that looks like a postcard with a mountain on it. Click that, paste the address being careful to make sure you only have one http, and click OK.

Since you're a pro would you mind me picking your brain from time to time? Photo forums aren't terribly noob friendly.

I really like the lighting on both of those, the top one is my favorite. I really, really like the Appalachian mountains. That wouldn't happen to be north of Gatlinburg would it?

Did a great job capturing the feeling of being there in both.

Thought I recognized that. Somewhere I have 35MM shots of that same place.

I'm itching to go back up there soon.

Beautiful pics, beautiful location. I could look at that watermill pic a long time, its relaxing.
Ron, you imprint your name (copyright?) on your pics. Do you do some stuff professionally? or can cameras be set up to do that automatically?
